Brown Citizen Circle

Mission Statement

Brown Citizen Circle (BCC), is a registered nonprofit organization established in April 2021 that aims to empower and mobilize South Asian youth based in Canada while also engaging with diverse, racialized communities, to break down isolated efforts.

We celebrate the capacity of South Asian youth while also recognizing the need to address detrimental systemic notions within the South Asian community.

We stand in solidarity with Black and Indigenous communities to confront disproportionate marginalizations, creating opportunities to collectively unlearn, build networks, and collaborate alongside our allies.

Aims and Objectives

  • Co-Create.

We strive to encourage healthy dialogue amongst South Asian, Black, and Indigenous youth in Canada, fostering an environment where we can collectively learn about our positionalities. We hope to inspire youth to have their experiences heard, seen, and represented by honouring their lived perspectives throughout all of our events.

  • Amplify.

We want to harness the power of shared experiences with our community stakeholders and partners to design impactful strategies that amplify South Asian youth voices. By extending the discussion of shared experiences beyond the scope of Brown Citizen Circle, we create avenues for increased connectivity, collaboration, and collective action within our broader communities.

  • Equip.

Through our events, we hope to celebrate South Asian youth and equip them with the resources necessary to participate in spheres of power and influence by acknowledging their capabilities and working to meet them where they are at.
